IPW Affirms, The Removal Of The Malang Police Chief Is Right And Can Be Recovered If It Can't Be Afforded
JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) emphasized that the removal of AKBP Ferli Hidayat from the position of Malang Police Chief was not without reason. Following the death of 125 supporters at the Malang Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Police Chief is referred to as the highest-ranking leader in the region.
"The highest-responsibility leader in the area, the highest leader in the area is the Chief of Police. So the action to remove positions is an action that is in accordance with the rules and procedures," said Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, October 5.
Sugeng explained that the process of removing police officers from one structural position was the authority of a direct superior that could be done instantly.
"There is no need to wait for proof of a violation of the code of ethics, but the superior directly for his own consideration saw the alleged violation. Both procedural violations, in this case, are disciplinary violations, so he can immediately remove them," explained Sugeng.
Even though he has been removed, Sugeng said, the removal could be returned if the error was not proven.
"This removal could later be recovered if it is not proven, that is the rule. In Malang's case, in my opinion, the removal was appropriate, not premature because there was an incident where people died. The death was 125 people because there were allegations of police involvement related to the use of tear gas," he said.
Previously, it was reported that the tragedy of the death of 127 football fans at the Kanjuruhan Malang Stadium, East Java, was very important for the Indonesian government to pay attention to.
Chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso said President Jokowi must immediately intervene and respond to the national event.
"President Jokowi must pay attention to the football world in Indonesia, which is always chaotic and costs lives," he said.
In addition, the Chairman of the Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso also asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit to remove the Malang Police Chief, AKBP Ferli Hidayat.
AKBP Ferli called IPW as the person responsible for controlling security in the match between Arema FC Malang and Persebaya Surabaya.
Then, the National Police took decisive steps in handling the deadly tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Malang Stadium, East Java. Because, in the temporary development of 9 Brimob members, the aftermath of the tragedy that killed hundreds of people was removed.
"The East Java Police Chief also took the same steps to disable Danyon, Danki, and Danton Brimob as many as 9 people," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo to reporters in Malang, East Java, Monday, October 3.
The Brimob members include AKBP Agus Waluyo, AKP Hasdarman, Aiptu Solikin, Aiptu Samsul, and Aiptu Ari Dwiyanto. Then, there is also AKP Untung, AKP Danang, AKP Nanang, and the last one is Aiptu Budi.
Then, the two-star general also mentioned that the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo had made the decision to remove the Malang Police Chief AKBP Ferli Hidayat. He was replaced by AKBP Putu Kholis, who currently serves as the Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief.
