Police Set 4 Suspect Drivers For Persecution Ended In The Death Of 1 Driver Ojol In Semarang

SEMARANG - Police named four online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) as suspects in the persecution that resulted in the death of an ojol driver in Semarang City on Saturday, September 24.

Semarang Police Chief, Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, said there were two different cases related to the case that killed an ojol driver named Kukuh Pangayuh Utomo (32), a resident of Mijen, Semarang City.

"Meanwhile, four perpetrators have been arrested," said Kombes Irwan when releasing the persecution case in Semarang, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 27.

The four perpetrators of the persecution who were arrested were BS (45), a resident of East Semarang; NS (36), a resident of Wonodri, South Semarang; ZD (47), a resident of Demak Regency, and H (27) a resident of Tlogosari, Semarang City.

Kombes Irwan explained that the case began when an ojol driver named Hasto Priyo Wasono was persecuted by two people while queuing for fuel at the Pedurungan gas station, Semarang City on Saturday, September 24.

"One of the perpetrators of this persecution is a victim named Kukuh Pangayuh Utomo," said Kombes Irwan.

Meanwhile, another person who was the perpetrator of the abuse at the Pedurungan gas station with the initials AP is still being sought by the police.

Information about the incident of the abuse of Hasto Priyo Wasono then spread to communication groups from the ojol driver community.

The existence of the perpetrators of the persecution who had been known and spread in the communication group was immediately sought by a number of ojol drivers on the same day.

Kukuh Pangayuh Utomo was even involved in a fight with a number of ojol drivers. He brought a knife to defend himself.

But unfortunately, Kukuh Pangayuh Utomo died. Based on the video footage obtained by the police, he was abused by a number of people who were identified as ojol drivers

According to Kombes Irwan, from the death of this ojol driver, the police handled two different crimes that were still related to each other.

For his actions, four online motorcycle taxi drivers who have been named suspects were charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution which resulted in the death of a person.

Regarding the incident of persecution, Kombes Irwan appealed to the public not to take justice into their own hands and hand over security and order duties to the police.

"You can catch the perpetrators of the crime, but don't take justice into your own hands," he said.
