Criticized For Participating In Announcing Lukas Enembe As A KPK Suspect, Mahfud MD: Why?
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD claimed to have the task of explaining legal cases that were misperceived in the community. One of them is the alleged corruption that ensnared the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe.
He conveyed this in response to an insinuation of Luke Enembe's lawyer, Aloysius Renwarin. According to Mahfud, there is nothing wrong if he takes part in dealing with the alleged corruption in the Cendrawasih Earth.
"Why? Because I am in charge of politics, law, and security," Mahfud said in a written statement to reporters quoted on Tuesday, September 20.
Mahfud emphasized that he often announced allegations of corruption in the country. Among them, the allegations of Asabri and Jiwasraya, the Ministry of Defense satellites, and other cases.
Thus, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) said that this was not the first time for him to deal with allegations of corruption. "I explain for certain cases where the reaction is wrong," he said.

Furthermore, Mahfud confirmed that the alleged corruption that ensnared Lukas Enembe was purely a legal matter. Thus, the rumors circulating that he is criminalized are not appropriate.
"We will show that this is purely a matter of law and the figures for alleged corruption are hundreds of billions," he said.
"This has nothing to do with certain political parties," continued Mahfud.
As previously reported, Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
This determination is based on complaints from the public. The details of the case against him have not been disclosed but he has been prevented from going abroad for six months.
