Follow Meta's Footsteps, ByteDance Tests Metaverse Through This New Device
JAKARTA - In an effort to diversify its business, TikTok's parent company ByteDance earlier last year acquired Pico, a company that produces a number of Virtual Reality (VR) products.
By annexing Pico, ByteDance will finally try the metaverse world like Meta and other tech giants.
As a result of the acquisition, next week ByteDance plans to announce a new VR headset.
Through its official LinkedIn page, ByteDance uploaded a leak of their latest product launch VR headset on September 22, at 14:00 GMT+2.
The new VR headset will be dubbed the Pro-tier Pico 4 or Pico Phoenix headset. Like a sophisticated headset, this device is also equipped with face and eye recognition technology, as well as an RGB passthrough camera that provides a mixed reality experience to its users.
It doesn't stop there, the Pico Phoenix Pro-tier headset is also equipped with automatic IPD (inter-pupillary distance), so the headset can automatically adjust its IPD hardware to the VR headset user itself.
Finally, citing GSMArena, Sunday, September 18, the headset will also be supported by the Android Q operating system and processors made by Qualcomm for which more detailed information is not known.
