Police Deploy 1,118 Personnel to Secure G20 EWG and LEMM in Bali
BADUNG - The National Police deployed 1,118 personnel to secure two series of G20 activities in Bali from Monday to Wednesday, September 14. The two meetings that took place were the G20 Working Group on Manpower (EWG) and the ministerial level meeting on manpower (LEMM).
Bali Police Chief Inspector General Putu Jayan Danu Putra led the gathering of security forces for the two activities at ITDC Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali, Monday, September 12. The thousands of personnel are members of the Bali Police, Under the Operational Control (BKO) of the Jakarta Police Headquarters, as well as related security institutions.
"To secure the implementation of the EWG and LEMM series, the Bali Police and its ranks held a police operation with the code Operation Gapura Agung X 2022. This security operation will last for four days, from September 12 to September 15, 2022", said Putu Jayan.
The 6th G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting took place on Monday and Tuesday, September 13, then the G2-Labor and Employment Ministers Meeting (LEMM) was held on Tuesday, September 13 and Wednesday, September 14. The two meetings of the G20 Summit series were centered at Ayana Resort Bali, Jimbaran, Badung, Bali.
The EWG meeting was attended by 20 senior officials from G20 member countries, four senior officials from four G20 permanent observer countries, and two senior officials from two international organizations.
"Meanwhile, the LEMM meeting will be attended by 20 labor ministers from 20 G20 member countries, four labor ministers from four G20 permanent observer countries, five ministers of manpower from five countries are heads of regional forums, seven leaders of international organizations, and five heads of the G20 engagement group", said Putu.

To ensure security readiness during the G20 EWG and LEMM activities, Putu directly checked the personnel on duty and security support equipment when deploying troops. He also gave special instructions to the personnel in charge of escorting the delegates.
"This troop call is a managerial process carried out to carry out a final check on the readiness of personnel and infrastructure to be deployed to the field", he added.
The deployment of the troops is also an opportunity for all personnel to share perceptions, especially regarding the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the police and procedures for acting according to the operational plan. On the same occasion, Putu also reminded his staff not to underestimate the potential threats.
"Never underestimate (underestimate) the development of the existing situation", he said.
He asked the intelligence task force to strengthen the detection of potential threats that might occur, such as terrorism. He also asked his staff to use the information technology available at the Command Center 91 Command Center ITDC Nusa Dua and the Bali Police Command Center when tasked with securing a series of G20 activities.
