Jokowi's Directives Were Successful, August's Inflation Was Lower Than July 2022
JAKARTA - The government through the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that strengthening cooperation between the center and the regions in controlling inflation had paid off.
According to him, the Central Inflation Control Team (TPIP) and the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) succeeded in reducing the inflation rate in August 2022 with a monthly deflation book of 0.21 percent (month to month/MtM).
In addition, general inflation last month was also observed to be sloping to 4.69 percent year on year (YoY) from the previous 4.94 percent in July 2022.
"This is more an effort made by the government as directed by the President in maintaining price stability to achieve the 2022 inflation target", he said during a press conference after the National Inflation Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Thursday, September 1.
According to Airlangga, his party has given instructions to all local governments (Pemda) to maintain inflation according to national targets through efforts to control prices.

Airlangga detailed that the decrease in inflation was reflected in volatile food inflation which had deflations of 2.9 percent MtM or 8.93 YoY.
"This figure needs to be lowered again yesterday, the figure is 11.47 percent and this is helped by even harvests, including the decline in the price of shallot commodities", he said.
Meanwhile, spatially there are 66 regencies/cities whose inflation rates are above the national level. Meanwhile, at the provincial level, the inflation rate is still recorded above the national book.
