The Elderly Falls Into A 7 Meter Deep Abyss In Minsel North Sulawesi

MANADO - The joint SAR team found Ober Pinatik (66), an elderly resident of Malola Village, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, who fell into a ravine after bathing in the shower.

"After about 2.5 hours of searching, the victim was finally found safe on the side of the road and fell into a ravine about 7 meters deep," said Head of the Manado Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas), Monce, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 17.

The victim was then evacuated using a stretcher considering the victim was very weak and unable to walk. The victim was evacuated to the nearest health center for special treatment.

"We appreciate the joint SAR team who quickly found the victim in a safe condition," he said.

He explained that on Tuesday (16/8) the victim said goodbye to the victim's child because he was going to take a bath in the shower on the outskirts of the village not far from the village.

Because they had not returned for a long time, the family followed them to the shower, but they were not there so they reported it to the SAR Team.

Getting the report, then ordered the UPT Pos Amurang to carry out the search for victims.

Post Coordinator Amurang Hartje, after receiving the report then conducted a search process as soon as possible to find the victim.

The team received information that the victim was senile and was walking with a limp, while access to the location of the shower bath had many ravines, so the team suspected that the victim had slipped on the way home after bathing.

All elements involved in the search location then focused their search on the side of the road where there was a ravine on either side of the road. And sure enough the victim was found mired in one of the ravines.

"With the discovery of the victim, we declare the operation closed," he said.
