Golkar, PAN And PPP 'Register Together' To KPU, Observer: Hopefully KIB Consistently Maintains Unity

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party, PAN and PPP will both register themselves as participants in the 2024 election to the KPU on Wednesday, August 10. The three political parties who are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) claim that this 'list together' to the KPU is a form of solidarity.

Executive Director of PARA Syndicate Ari Nurcahyo, assessed that the joint registration of KIB to the KPU can be interpreted as a message that carries the spirit of unity.

"Symbolically, the message of unity is to be conveyed through the KIB togetherness in registering as election participants," said Ari in Jakarta, Friday, August 5.

However, according to Ari, there is public hope that is tucked away through the spirit of unity of the three political parties. Namely, being able to consistently fight for national politics while at the same time rejecting identity politics. Because according to Ari, identity politics is counterproductive to national unity.

"The public hopes that KIB will be consistent in maintaining national unity by promoting and fighting for national politics and the politics of ideas, and consistently rejecting identity politics that rips unity and divides society through massive polarization," he said.

The public, added Ari, also hopes that KIB will be able to translate the spirit of unity into concrete actions and actions. As is known, the last election has divided the public.

"And hopefully the symbolic message is grounded in real actions to maintain national unity in the community, and not be tempted to practice identity politics," he said.

Previously, the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized that unity was the key to overcoming various problems and conflicts in the midst of various challenges faced by the Indonesian nation.

Starting from the challenges of perfect storm 5C, namely COVID-19, conflict, climate change (climate change), commodity prices (commodity prices), and cost of living (cost of living). In fact, the challenge will increase ahead of the 2024 General Election, namely the Political Storm.

"To prevent a political storm, we need to unite," said Airlangga.

According to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, all the challenges faced by the nation, the threat of a global recession, geopolitical tensions that impact on the stability of the national economy, as well as dynamics in the political world can be overcome with unity and by experts.

"That's what Golkar did, our early warning system was united before the election. And that by being united we can solve the economy and by being united we can resolve conflicts," said Airlangga.

He also invited all people to be optimistic about the 2024 General Election. People participate in democratic parties and all parties ensure that the elections adopt the principles of good governance.

"So we are optimistic to face elections optimistically, because this is part of governance as well, and for democracy it is a matter of individual rights and opportunities for the whole community," said Airlangga.

Regarding unity, Airlangga then mentioned that the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) will register as an election participant with the KPU on 10 August. Airlangga guaranteed that the coalition consisting of the Golkar Party, the United Development Party and the National Mandate Party would continue to consolidate ahead of registration.

"We will continue to consolidate KIB and we will register together on the 10th," said Airlangga.
