For Central Sulawesi Residents 10 Days Ahead BMKG Predicts Potential For Heavy Rain To Still Happen, Floods And Landslides Need To Be Watched
PARIGI - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the potential for heavy rains will still occur in Central Sulawesi Province in the next 10 days in early August 2022.
"We need to be aware that the impact of heavy rains can lead to flooding or landslides", said Head of BMKG Class II Meteorological Station Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri, Palu, Nur Alim, when contacted from Parigi, Antara, Friday, August 5.
According to him, according to the high alert weather forecast, there could be heavy rain in Banggai and Morowali regencies, and the BMKG has also issued alert warning information today in effect in 13 regencies/cities in Central Sulawesi.
The 13 regencies/cities in question are Bulo, Tolitoli, Donggala, Sigi, Parigi Moutong, Poso, Tojo Una-una, Banggai, Banggai Islands, Banggai Laut, Morowali, North Morowali and Palu City Regencies.
"In the next 10 days, in addition to the early warning of heavy rain, there is also an early warning of very heavy rain in several areas, so the community and local government should anticipate", said Alim.
According to the BMKG forecast, the Central Sulawesi region will still experience rain in the next two months or August-September, and it is predicted that in 2022 there will be no dry season.
"Currently the weather conditions are dry and wet. This condition is triggered by the La Nina phenomenon which is active again and its growth is very fast so it is estimated that there will be no dry season, because the next few months enter the annual rainy season from November 2022 to February 2023", said Alim.
He said, residents, did not need to panic excessively in response to the weather early warning by the BMKG, because the data released was to remind them not to be careless in facing a bad situation.
