Horror! Officers Find 3,451 Beauty Cosmetic Products Expired And Illegal
TANGERANG - During the enforcement action in July 2022, the Food and Drug Monitoring Workshop (Loka POM) Tangerang Regency, Banten, found 3,451 beauty cosmetic products circulating in the area without distribution and expired permits.
The Head of the Tangerang Regency POM Workshop, Wydia Savitri in Tangerang, Monday, said the results of surveillance at a number of places/markets during the 3rd and 4th week of July found 3,451 illegal and expired cosmetics from 169 items.
"The findings of imported cosmetic products have expired as many as 5 items, 7 items of local cosmetics have expired, 47 items of imported cosmetics without a distribution permit, and 110 local cosmetics without a distribution permit. The total number of findings is 3,451 with an economic value of around IDR 254,968,500," she said.
She revealed, from the results of the supervision carried out by her party, many products that did not meet the provisions (TMK) were dominated by beauty cosmetics, followed by medicines and traditional medicines containing hazardous chemicals.
In addition, of the 15 distribution facilities of cosmetic products examined, only 12 facilities did not comply with the provisions (TMK).
"We are targeting 15 distribution facilities consisting of cosmetic importers and modern cosmetic shops as well as traditional markets spread across the Kelapa Dua District, Teluk Naga, Kemis Market, Curug, Kosambi, Pagedangan, Mauk, and Cikupa," she said.

During the first semester of 2022, during the unannounced inspection (sidak) supervision of drug distribution facilities, the Tangerang POM Loka also found 12,562 pills of 24 items.
"There were findings of 12,562 OOT pills, 337 psychotropic pills, 650 hard drugs with a total estimated economic value of IDR 38,156,416," she said.
Furthermore, with these findings, her party will continue to be committed to protecting the community from illegal drug and food trafficking and risks to health and safety by increasing cross-sectoral collaboration and all stakeholders.
"Including increasing public participation to become smart consumers by always checking-CLICK (make sure the packaging is in good condition, read the information on the label, has a distribution permit and does not exceed the expiration date)," she said.
She appealed to the public to be careful and vigilant in buying cosmetics both online and offline. Make sure that the product is registered with the POM.
