91 Percent Of Manchester United Fans Want Ronaldo To Be Sacked From Old Trafford
JAKARTA — Cristiano Ronaldo's future with Manchester United is getting tangled. As many as 91 percent of supporters even want the club to kick the Portuguese superstar.
The majority of supporters who do not want Ronaldo to be retained appear in a poll conducted by Andy Mitten as editor of the United We Stand fanzine.
This high percentage is due to Ronaldo's attitude which is considered less loyal to the club. The 37-year-old continues to urge the club to sell him after missing pre-season citing family reasons.
The latest report from The Sun says that Ronaldo has informed the Red Devils about a rival club that needs his services. For that, he urged MU to immediately determine the transfer fee.
However, MU still sticks to their previous statement. They insisted they did not want to sell the former Real Madrid player because he was part of the team's plans from new coach Erik ten Hag.
Previously, Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, had a meeting with the Old Trafford hierarchy this week. However, the meeting did not seem to have yielded results for both parties.
Mendes is said to have told Manchester United officials that there is currently an offer for his client. However, the club set a nominal transfer fee to complete the deal.
The two sides are currently still at a stalemate ahead of the season opener. United have eight days left to play their first league game against Brighton.
Ronaldo currently has one year left on his contract. However, the club based at Old Trafford has the option to extend his contract for another 12 months.
He has returned to training with the team after missing the pre-season tour. However, he was left out of the squad when United played their friendly behind closed doors against Wrexham at their Carrington training base on Wednesday.
Apart from that, it also looks unlikely that Ronaldo will take part in this weekend's friendly against Atletico Madrid in Oslo tomorrow.
