KPK Chair Ensures Mardani Maming Case Is Completed Until Court
BANJARMASIN - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri ensured that the Mardani H Maming case was brought to justice after the former regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, was named a suspect.
"Every person who is named a suspect must be resolved through the judicial process," said Firli Bahuri, in Banjarmasin as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 28.
But in handling each case, Firli emphasized that the KPK would continue to prioritize the principle of presumption of innocence, the principle of humanity and the principle of equal rights of every citizen before the law.
Firli said that the principles of public interest, fulfillment of a sense of justice, accountability, openness and proportionality are also the spirit of the KPK in eradicating corruption.
"So there has never been someone we could determine as a suspect without his actions and circumstances, so it must be based on sufficient preliminary evidence," he said, on the sidelines of attending an event at the South Kalimantan Police.
Regarding the pretrial process by Mardani Mamng, which was also rejected by the South Jakarta District Court, Firli admitted that the KPK had respected him from the start. In fact, according to him, pretrial is actually good for testing the work that has been done by KPK investigators.
Mardani Maming surrendered to the KPK accompanied by his lawyer Denny Indrayana. He was previously on the wanted list (DPO) after being absent twice from being summoned as a suspect.
The General Chairperson of the BPP HIPMI was named a suspect in a corruption case related to the granting of a mining business permit in Tanah Bumbu while serving as Regent.
