Firefighters Say The Puff Of Smoke At Plaza Senayan Came From A Computer Transformer In One Of The Shops

JAKARTA - A fire in one of the shops on the 1st floor, Plaza Senayan Mall, Central Jakarta, was successfully extinguished. The fire only emitted a thick cloud of smoke which had closed the visibility of mall visitors.

The puff of smoke was caused by a computer transformer fire in one of the shops. Luckily, the manager was alert so the fire did not spread to other shops and could be handled immediately.

Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Asril Rizal, said the puff of smoke started from a burning computer transformer. As a result, a puff of smoke inevitably filled one of the shops.

It received the fire report at 10:05 this morning. His party immediately deployed 3 units of fire engines and 15 officers. Not long after, the fire was localized so it didn't spread to other shops.

"It has been extinguished by the manager", Asril Rizal told reporters, Wednesday, July 27.

Asril said the officers who were dispatched to the location immediately cooled down while still spraying water on the smoke source.

They do this to ensure that the source of the fire is completely extinguished and will not spread to other shops.

"Only the computer transformer (which burned)", he said.

One of the mall employees with the initials U (30) admitted that the puff of smoke had made the employees panic. Not only the brand of smoke that came from the 1st floor had made a scene for mall visitors.

Luckily, the source of the smoke was quickly dealt with so the panic ended soon. "It happened around 9.30. (Initially) from the 1st floor. When it happened, I was in front of the computer and there was a loud noise. When we saw that there was a lot of smoke, we were evacuated and ordered to get out of the building", he said.
