TNI Commander Reopens Death Case Of Sertu Bayu Pratama
JAKARTA - The TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa confirmed that the investigation into the death of Sertu Marctyan Bayu Pratama had been reopened.
"I have searched and I have started," he said at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, July 24.
He said the reopening of the case was to ensure that all perpetrators of criminal acts or who assisted in criminal acts were punished.
"At that time, only two superior officers were included in the dossier," he said.
Andika explained that the case would be transferred to the Military Court in Jakarta from the Jayapura Military Court. The reason is because the task force personnel have returned to Jakarta.
"What is clear is that all those who are responsible are not only based on the files that investigators handed over to the prosecutor last December," he said.
The TNI Commander admitted that the law enforcement process seemed long. In addition, Andika also only found out information from media reports by the victim's mother.
Previously, the mother of a TNI member from Solo, Central Java, named Sri Rejeki, sought justice for the death of her son, Sertu Marctyan Bayu Pratama, due to alleged abuse by his seniors in Timika, Papua, some time ago.
Sri Rejeki in Solo at that time asked for justice from the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa, so that his son's case could be immediately tried and decided as fairly as possible.
"The perpetrators get the punishment according to their actions. If possible, they will be fired because they can damage the TNI structure and also endanger civilians because people like this are cruel, yes," said the 50-year-old woman.
Information regarding the death of the child was received on November 8, 2021. He received this information from one of his son's commanders in Solo.
"On Monday I was informed that my son died. The news from the commander in Solo, he said he was sick, but I couldn't believe it. Wong on Saturday was still fine, how come Monday was suddenly informed that my son died," he said.
