Prabowo: Young People Don't Like Talking Empty Promises, What's Important Is Implementation
JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said there is a tendency for young people today to dislike empty promises.
He said this while attending the 100th anniversary of Taman Siswa, at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, July 24.
“Young people don't like omdo, you know omdo? By the way. The current generation doesn't need a lot of santi aji (direction), what is needed is ing ngarso sung tulodo, ing madyo building karso, tut wuri handayani," Prabowo said to the applause of the event participants, quoted from a written statement.
"Ing ngarso sung tulodo, ing madyo build karso, tut wuri handayani" is the motto of Ki Hajar Dewantara which means "in front of being an example, in the middle building enthusiasm, behind giving encouragement.
Prabowo also said that the most important thing is hard work for implementation rather than empty promises.
"The important thing is not empty promises, what is important is their implementation," he said.
Prabowo during his speech was reluctant to read the material that had been prepared and chose to speak without text. This is because he understands that young people will get tired of listening to long speeches
“I won't go on at length because I understand that young people's speeches have been boring for too long. True, or not? Maybe they're talking, the old cassette is playing again or maybe it's bad luck," Prabowo said.
