Here Are Tips To Prevent Radicalism In The Digital Age

JAKARTA - The Dean of the Darullughah Wadda'wah Islamic Institute, Novianto Puji Raharjo shared tips that the public can follow so as not to get caught up in the teachings of radicalism when studying religion in the digital era.

"The right tips for studying religion in the digital era are to pay attention to sources, discussions that are far from national norms and ethics do not need to be followed," said Novianto quoting Antara, Saturday, July 23.

Novianto added, there must be a teacher who accompanies the religious learning process through the digital world so that people can ask again about the material received.

Meanwhile, da'wah actors also have an important role in spreading their teachings in the digital world. West Sulawesi NAHDLATUL ULAMA DAKWAH INSTITUTIONS (LDNU) Media and Information Corbid, Salahuddin, said that da'wah actors must prioritize ethics in preaching, one way is to avoid hate speech.

"Digital ethics is offered as a guideline for using various digital platforms consciously, responsibly, with integrity, and upholding benevolent values," he said.

Another resource person, the Indonesian Anti-Defamation Society (Mafindo) volunteer for the Bogor Region, Ahmad Ubaedillah, said that implementing digital ethics itself is the application of religious teachings.

He said, religion should give birth to norms such as a sense of responsibility and integrity of its adherents.

“In the digital era, religious understanding can be presented in the form of ethics in the digital space. For example, it can avoid negative content such as content that violates decency, gambling, defamation, extortion, spreading false news, and hate speech," said Ahmad.

This activity is part of a series of programs for the National Digital Literacy Movement by the Ministry of Communication and Information. The National Digital Literacy Movement Program is expected to encourage people to use the internet intelligently, positively, creatively, and productively.
