Aceh Police Destroy 5.3 Hectares Of Cannabis Fields
BANDA ACEH - Aceh Regional Police have destroyed 5.3 hectares of ready-to-harvest cannabis fields in the mountains of the Lamteuba area, Aceh Besar District, which were spread over two points.
"The cannabis plants in the fields that were destroyed were approximately 53,000 stems with an estimated total weight of 13.3 tons," said Director of the Aceh Police's Drug Investigation Department, Kombes Ruddi Setiawan, as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 21.
The destruction of the cannabis fields involved elements of the TNI, Customs and Excise, the National Narcotics Agency. The cannabis field is located in the mountainous area, in the Gampong Pulo area, Lamteuba Village, Seulimeum District, Aceh Besar District.
"The height of the cannabis plant ranges from two to 2.5 meters. The age of the forbidden plant is estimated to be four months and is ready to harvest," he said.
To get to the fields, it is a three hour walk. The existence of the cannabis field is based on public information.
"The extermination is carried out by removing the marijuana plants and burning them on the spot. The burning uses diesel fuel and used motorcycle tires," said Kombes Ruddi.
