The Body Of A Filipino Citizen Was Evacuated By The Banda Aceh SAR After Colliding With A Crane On The MV Lowlands Ship
BANDA ACEH - The Banda Aceh National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team evacuated the bodies of Filipino citizens who were crew members of a Panamanian-flagged ship who died in a work accident.
Head of Basarnas Banda Aceh Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the victim was Crispin F Cadiz, a crew member of the MV Lowlands Comfort.
"The victim died when he hit a crane when the ship where he worked was sailing in the Indian Ocean on July 4, 2022. The victim was treated on the ship, but eventually died," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain in Banda Aceh, Antara, Thursday, July 14.
The evacuation of the bodies of the victims took place in the waters of the Bengal Strait, between the Islands of Aceh Island, Aceh Besar District, and Weh Island, Sabang City.
The evacuation was carried out using the SAR ship KN Kresna 232. The distance from the evacuation point was 7.5 nautical miles or nautical miles from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City, where KN Kresna 232 rested.
Ibnu Harris said MV Lowlands is a cargo ship with a weight of 43 thousand gross tons (GT). The MV Lowlands sailed from the United States via the Suez Canal, Egypt to China.
In addition to the Basarnas team, the evacuation also involved Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) personnel, the Malahayati Port Health Office (KKP), Customs, immigration, harbormasters, coastal radio units, radio communication communities, and other relevant agencies.

"Arriving at Ulee Lheue Port, the victim was then taken to the Zainoel Abidin Hospital in Banda Aceh using an ambulance. The plan is for the victim's body to be returned to its home country via Jakarta," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
