Lili Pintauli's Alleged Ethical Violation Cancelled After Quickly Resigning From KPK Deputy Chair Is Considered A Protection
JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has declared that the alleged ethical violation against the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli, has died. However, this raises suspicion and is judged as a mistake.
The alleged ethical violation committed by Lili Pintauli for receiving tickets and accommodation for the Mandalika MotoGP from PT Pertamina (Persero) was anticlimactic.
The KPK Council decided not to follow up on the allegations. The reason is that she is no longer a member of the anti-corruption commission after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) signed Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 71/P/2022 concerning the Dismissal of the KPK Leaders.
This decision was later highlighted by former KPK investigator Novel Baswedan. He suspected that the death of the alleged ethical violation was in order to protect Lili from criminal acts.
"Allegedly as an effort to protect Lili Pintauli Siregar from criminal responsibility for the actions in question," Novel said as quoted from his Twitter account, @nazaqistsha, Tuesday, July 12.
Not only the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Council, it is also alleged that Novel was also given similar protection by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. This can be seen from Firli's statement on Thursday, June 30, by stating that she did not know that Lili had submitted an application for resignation from her position.
In fact, based on the narrative of the Supervisory Board, the letter was given on June 30. Thus, Firli was accused by Novel of having lied to the public.
"The allegation of public lies by the Chairperson of the KPK, Lili resigned around June 30, 2022, her resignation letter of course was submitted to other leaders.
Novel is worried that the actions taken by the KPK are actually not just to protect Lili. However, he suspected that there were other violations that were also carried out by the leaders.
"If the complete facts of the violation are not revealed, it is most likely that Lili's actions were not carried out alone. Are there other KPK officials who have done the same? Are there any parties who are helping, trying to cover up Lili's actions," he said.

"Not being put on trial will prevent all these things from being revealed," continued Novel.
The spotlight was also given by former KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah. He said the trial should still be held for evidence.
"The KPK Supervisory Board is wrong. The ethics trial for the KPK leader, Lili Pintauli Siregar, who is suspected of gratification related to MotoGP, should still be carried out," said Febri through his Twitter account, @febridiansyah.
Febri said the KPK Supervisory Board must also conduct an ethics trial against Lili because of their authority. Moreover, the former Deputy Chairperson of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is suspected of violating ethics while serving as the head of the anti-corruption commission.
"The trial of the code of ethics is of course to prove the violations committed when they were leaders or employees of the KPK," he said.
"So the reason why the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Council mentions the ethics trial was aborted is that Lili resigned before the trial is clearly wrong. Because when the alleged violation occurred she was still the head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)," continued Febri.
Furthermore, Febri assessed that the death of the ethics trial set a bad precedent in the future. Moreover, the KPK Council tends to misunderstand the context and status of KPK personnel when ethical violations occur.
"If the logic of the KPK Supervisory Board is used, it is easy for any perpetrators of violations to escape by retreating when the code of ethics is being tried," he concluded.
