Unable To Swim, A Supemarket Security Guard Dies After Helping His Nephew Drown In The Blorong River
KENDAL – In order to help his nephew who drowned while swimming in the Blorong River, Darupono Village, South Kaliwungu, a supermarket security guard drowned. It is suspected that the victim was not good at swimming in a deep river. Meanwhile, the victim's nephew was rescued.
The victim, Sahuri (38), a resident of Dukuh Kramat Selatan, Kutoharjo Village, Kaliwungu, was found not long after the victim's nephew and son screamed for help.
Head of Kaliwungu Police, Commissioner Adjutant of Police Irsanto explained, that initially the victim on Sunday, July 10, woke his son to invite him to swim in the river.
“Initially, his son, who had just woken up, was invited by the victim and took his nephew to the Blorong River in Darupono Village, South Kaliwungu to swim. The victim's child and nephew then plunged into a river where the current was not too strong," explained Commissioner Adjutant Irsanto.
But at that time the victim's 7-year-old nephew was about to drown. Suddenly, Sahuri jumped into the river to help his nephew.
"It is suspected that while trying to help his nephew the victim drowned because he was not good at swimming. The river is also deep enough so that the victim immediately drowned, while his nephew was helped by the victim's child who was on the riverbank," he added.

Seeing his father not appearing on the surface, the victim's children and nephews screamed for help. Local residents who heard immediately went to the location to find and evacuate Sahuri's body.
“The victim was found shortly after drowning, but his life could not be saved. From the results of the village midwife's examination there were no signs of violence and the victim died as a result of drowning, "explained the Kaliwungu Police Chief.
After being examined by health workers and the Kaliwungu Police, the victim's body was immediately taken to the funeral home for burial. Meanwhile, the victim's child and nephew seemed traumatized by seeing the victim drowned.
