Mobile Phone Thieves Around HI Roundabout Turns Palmerah Residents, Victims Arrested In Monas Area
JAKARTA - NM (28) was arrested by a police officer for a mobile phone theft case with a fraud mode on Jalan Thamrin, behind the Mandarin hotel, Menteng District, Central Jakarta.
The two victims are A (13) and FW (14). The perpetrator, who lives in the Palmerah area, West Jakarta, is deliberately looking for young victims around the HI roundabout.
According to police officers, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 10, yesterday. At the time of the incident, the victim was with 10 of his friends at the HI roundabout.
Then the victim was visited by two perpetrators with the mode of looking for the person who had taken the cell phone belonging to the perpetrator's sister.
The perpetrator then took two cellphones belonging to the victim on the pretext of checking whether the cellphone belonged to his sister or not. Then the perpetrator left the victim.
After the victim waited, it turned out that the perpetrator never came to return the cellphone. The victim and his other colleagues searched for the perpetrators to the Monas area.
Luckily, one of the perpetrators with the initials NM was caught by a friend of the victim. Then the perpetrator was handed over to the police station.
"The one who reported to the new police station, the victim reported that he lost his cellphone and other items. One person has been arrested, he is 27 years old. Only one has been arrested, one person is still being sought," said Head of Menteng Metro Police AKBP Netty Rosdiana to reporters, Monday, 11. July.
In order to anticipate a similar incident, the Menteng Metro Police will increase supervision and monitoring at points prone to mass crowds.
"Monitoring is further enhanced. Let us work together and help maintain security and order as well as cleanliness in the Sudirman area and its surroundings," he said.
