Surabaya To Build 9 Rusunami, Rp. 500 Thousand In Installment For Residents With MBR Free Status

JAKARTA - The construction of nine Simple Owned Flats (Rusunami) in the City of Surabaya, East Java, which began in 2023 is specifically for residents who have been separated from the status of low-income communities. This was conveyed by the Head of the Surabaya Residential and Land Area Public Housing Service (DPRKPP), Irvan Wahyudrajad.

"Rusunami (simple-owned flats) are prepared as an option for residents who have been released from MBR (low-income) status and previously lived in rusunawa (simple rental flats)," said Irvan Wahyudrajad in Surabaya, Sunday.

According to him, the residents who have been separated from the MBR are expected to be able to own a house like a rusunami with low installments. So, the flats are only as a transit to be able to own a house.

Irvan said that his party is currently finalizing the plan for the construction of the Rusunami. The plan, he said, was to build the Rusunami using the Public Private Partnership (PPP) budget scheme.

The Surabaya City Government, he continued, has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) regarding the Rusunami development plan. Even before, the Ministry of PUPR has carried out a review.

"Our direction is going forward, Mayor Eri Cahyadi's suggestion is that flats work together with developers and banks for cheap loans with long terms, they (residents) can own flats," said Irvan.

The former Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Service (Dishub) ensured that the city government would prepare a long-term flat-payment scheme and low-cost installments. It is hoped that the residents of Surabaya can have a decent house to live in according to their abilities.

"So, for example, the SKBG (Certificate of Building Ownership) is up to 60 years, residents may pay in installments for 30 years. Maybe if they can afford Rp. 500 thousand per month, they can afford it," said Irvan as an example.

Irvan also mentioned that the city government has prepared nine points for the construction of rusunami with a total of 31 blocks. The construction of the Rusunami, which began in 2023, will utilize land assets belonging to the Surabaya City Government.

The locations include Tambak Wedi, Menanggal, Kedung Cowek, Bulak Banteng, Gunung Anyar, and Medokan Ayu.

In addition, Irvan also explained, the city government continues to strive to eradicate residents who live in flats so that they are immediately separated from MBR status, one of which is by utilizing land owned by the municipal government for use in labor-intensive programs.

"We have data on all residents living in rusunawa, what they want. So residents who don't have jobs, whether they are parents or children, the Mayor's order is to record everything and enter it into a labor-intensive application," he said.
