Jokowi And MBZ Cooperate To Develop Mangroves To Overcome Climate Change
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and President of the United Arab Emirates (PEA)/UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed (MBZ) agreed to increase cooperation to overcome the impact of climate change by developing mangrove areas.
"The two leaders agreed to increase cooperation related to climate change through mangrove development. During this visit, a joint project arrangement on mangrove development agreement was signed between the two countries," said Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in an online press statement from Abu Dhabi. , PEA was reported by Antara, Friday, July 1.
Foreign Minister Retno became one of the ministers who accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during his visit to PEA.
Indonesia hopes that cooperation in mangrove areas can be realized with the formation of the Mangrove Alliance for Climate which will be launched at the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia in November 2022.
In addition, he said, there is also a plan to build the Mohamed bin Zayed International Mangrove Research Center by implementing a joint pilot project in the form of a mangrove park on an area of 10,000 hectares in Indonesia.
"We hope that the implementation of mangrove cooperation can be realized through the formation of the mangrove alliance for climate which will be launched at the G20 Summit in Bali in November and the construction of the Mohamed bin Zayed International Mangrove Research Center," said Retno.
