Apriyani/Siti Fadia Win Tickets For Malaysia Open 2022 Even Though They Were Surprised At The Beginning

JAKARTA — Women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti managed to easily overcome the obstacles in the first round of the Malaysia Open 2022.

The new Indonesian pair beat the German pair Stine Kuespert/Emma Moszczynski 22-20 and 21-9 on Tuesday, June 28.

Apri/Fadia were briefly confused in the first game which took place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur. Opponents performed well, while Apriyani/Siti Fadia's field adjustments did not go well.

"In the second game we already knew the direction of the wind, the ball, and the opponent's stroke. So, [we] are better at playing," said Fidia after the match as received in an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).

Apri/Fadia actually took to the field armed with a strategy that was suitable for a windy field. However, at the beginning, they could not properly execute the strategy that had been prepared.

“In the beginning, I was surprised because the wind direction was changing. Anticipation must be fast, be smart in placing the ball, don't let it fall too far, because it can come out and have fatal consequences," said Apri.

In the second round later, the pair who won the 2021 SEA Games gold medal in Hanoi will meet Japanese women's doubles Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida.

“What is certain is that you have to be ready to be tired, including mentally and mentally. Also, if the pattern has been read, it must be changed quickly and consistently," said Apri.

In another match, mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati also qualified for the round of 16 after winning over the Hong Kong pair, Chang Tak Ching/Ng Wing Yung 23-21, 8-21, 21-18.

Unfortunately, Putri Kusuma Wardani's steps had to be stopped in the hands of Denmark's Line Hjmark Kjaersfeldt. The women lost 14-21, 21-10, 16-21.
