Even Though He Can't Guarantee Being A Starting Player, Antonio Rudiger Wants To Move To Real Madrid Because Of Carlo Ancelotti's Persuasion
JAKARTA - Real Madrid's new player, Antonio Rudiger, has finally spoken about his decision to move from Chelsea. He revealed Carlo Ancelotti was the key figure who made him want to join Los Blancos.
Antonio Rudiger moved to Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer after choosing not to renew his contract at Chelsea. The 29-year-old defender has signed a four-year contract with the reigning Spanish and European champions.
Speaking at his presentation at the club's training ground in Valdebebas, Rudiger said he made his decision in April after his agent spoke with Ancelotti in September. After that, he himself spoke directly with the Italian coach.
"The second time, I spoke with Ancelotti, it was in April. It was the most important moment, to speak with Mr (Carlo) Ancelotti. That's when I made the choice, that I wanted to play for this club that he coached," said Rudiger, reported by Dawn.
In that conversation, Ancelotti said he wanted Rudiger to join Madrid. The former AC Milan coach believes in Rudiger's ability which he thinks can help the team's defense line.

However, Ancelotti did not guarantee Rudiger could immediately get a main place in the team. Because in Madrid, each player must show his ability to get regular playing minutes.
“You have to fight for your place. I'm ready to do that. But I look with confidence to do this. What do I bring? Healthy competition for everyone," said Rudiger.
The German will compete with Eder Militao and David Alaba for a place in Real's defensive midfield next season. Militao and Alaba are currently the main choices since the departures of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
