Karhutla In The National Capital, BPDD Extinguishes Hotspots Using Tree Branches
KALTIM - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU), East Kalimantan (Kaltim), the area that has been designated as the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, has succeeded in extinguishing forest and land fires (karhutla) in the region.
"The forest fires that the team managed to extinguish today are forest fires that occurred in RT 02, Penajam Village, Penajam District, PPU," said PPU Regency BPBD Chief Executive Marjani in Penajam, quoted from Antara, Sunday 12 June.
The burned material on the land was grass and dry leaves, while the burnt area consisted of three spots and did not have time to expand, because the joint team was quick to handle it.
He explained that when the fire and forest fires occurred on Saturday, June 11, at 14.30 WITA, a few minutes later or at 2:48 W.T., the team received a report and immediately came to the scene, while the cause of the fire is still under police investigation.
"After the report came in, the Pusdalops BPBD PPU immediately rushed to the location while coordinating with all related elements to extinguish the fire. The team manually extinguished the hotspots using tree branches," he said.
Overall, he said, currently there is no potential for hotspots to appear at the forest and land fires location, because the team has carried out a thorough check of the possibility that could trigger a fire in that location.
Meanwhile, personnel in the field who helped extinguish the fire were from Pusdalops BPBD, PPU Agriculture Service, Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Penajam Police, and local residents.
"Thank you to all parties who helped extinguish the forest and land fires. Meanwhile, to prevent forest and land fires from happening, we ask for the participation of residents, such as not throwing cigarette butts carelessly, then not burning anything on flammable land," he said.
