Pekalongan-Netherlands City Government Cooperate In Handling Rob Floods
PEKALONGAN - The Government of Pekalongan City, Central Java, has agreed on the Blue Deal Program collaboration launched by the Dutch Government to support cities in the world in dealing with floods and tidal waves.
"We are grateful for the signing of the Blue Deal cooperation with the Dutch Dutch Water Authority (DWA) team because the problems in Pekalongan City are many and complex", said Pekalongan Mayor, Afzan Arslan Djunaid, as quoted by Antara, Friday, June 3.
The Dutch Water Authority Balanda team or the Dutch Water Council is considered to have hundreds of years of experience in dealing with tidal water issues, so the Pekalongan City Government needs technical support and input related to flood and tidal floods management infrastructure.
According to him, the Netherlands is one of the countries that is considered to have been able to overcome floods and tidal waves, of course with different situations and conditions in Pekalongan.
"Therefore, we hope that the experience and knowledge of the Dutch Dutch Water Authority (DWA) team in dealing with floods and tidal waves can be transmitted properly and bring benefits to the City of Pekalongan", he said.
Dutch Water Authority representative Balanda Peter Hollanges said that the purpose of the team's visit to Pekalongan City was to build long-term cooperation in water management issues with the Pekalongan City/Regency Government.
"We want to share knowledge and help local governments in sustainable water management", said Peter Hollanges.
