The US Adds 71 Russian Companies To Blacklist, Including Sukhoi And MiG . Fighter Jet Assembly
JAKARTA - The United States on Thursday added 71 Russian and Belarusian entities to its trade blacklist, including several aircraft manufacturers, shipbuilding and research institutes, to fighter jet builders.
Washington's latest move is to remove US technology and other goods from the Russian military. The export restrictions were among a series of new sanctions imposed yesterday, in response to Russia's war in Ukraine, including additional bans on Russian oligarchs and members of the country's elite.
They include 70 Russian companies and other entities such as several units of the Russian Academy of Sciences, including the AA Kharkevich Institute for Information Transmission Problems and the VA Trapeznikov Control Science Institute and one Belarusian entity.
The companies added include several aircraft manufacturers and the Voronezh Joint Stock Aircraft Company, one of Russia's largest manufacturers of passenger and cargo aircraft, according to several research reports.
Also added was the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, which has produced nearly 7,000 aircraft of more than 20 types since 1934 and manufactures the MC-21 family of aircraft.
Quoted from various sources, in addition to designing the Yakolev Yak-130 light trainer jet and the Irkut MC-21 passenger plane. The company is also involved in assembling a number of Russia's flagship fighter jets.
The fighter jets include MiG-23UB, MiG-27UB, Sukhoi Su-27UB, Sukhoi Su-30, Sukhoi Su-30SM, Sukhoi Su-30MK.
In total, the Commerce Department has now added 322 entities to its economic blacklist to support the Russian military since February.

"The United States and our international partners have imposed strong and comprehensive restrictions on Russia's ability to obtain the goods and technology it needs to defend its military aggression," said Deputy Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Alan Estevez.
It is known, of the 71 companies added, 66 are determined to be military end users. Also added is the Branch of the Ilyushin Aviation Complex, the St. Shipbuilding Institute. Petersburg and the Special Research Bureau for Marine Research Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
