Motives And Perpetrators Of Burning In Dogiyai Papua Still Mysterious, Regent Yakobus Dumapa Asks Residents Not To Be Provoked

PAPUA - Regent Dogiyai Yakobus Dumapa asked people in his area not to be easily provoked and disturb security, as was the case some time ago where dozens of houses were burned down.

"I have asked the public not to be provoked into committing crimes that disturb the security and social order," Dumapa explained in Jayapura as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

From the reports received, the situation in Dogiyai is now starting to become conducive and the community is gradually carrying out activities as usual. It is not yet known who is responsible for the arson that occurred on Sunday, May 22, until Monday morning in Dogiyai, Papua.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Dogiyai Police, Kompol Bambang, admitted that his party could not confirm whether the burning was carried out by the community as a form of protest against the construction of the Dogiyai Police Headquarters or for other reasons.

"The case is still being investigated because it is not known what caused the community to set fire to Dogiyai," said Kompol Bambang.

It was recorded that 20 houses and kiosks were reported to have been burned in the two days.
