TikTok Appreciates Its Creators By Launching Video Credits Feature
JAKARTA - TikTok has just introduced a content creator credit feature, where users can instantly tag and credit videos using a new button in the app.
The new button will be rolling out in the next few weeks, where users will be able to tag, mention and credit videos in the description.
"Today, we're introducing a new tool to better enable creator credit and fair attribution to our community of creators and content creators," said Kudzi Chikumbu, director of the creator community for TikTok.
In fact, users have been able to tag each other for a long time, but the arrival of this new feature has prompted them to give them the credit they deserve for their original content creators.
When imitating other people's dance moves, jokes, memes, or audio, adding attribution to their original TikTok videos is easier.
"These features are an important step in our ongoing commitment to investing in resources and product experiences that support a credit culture, which is critical to ensuring TikTok remains a home for creative expression," said Chikumbu.
Bigger creator content or with a large number of followers picks up ideas from smaller creators is something that isn't limited to TikTok.

However, as one of the biggest social apps on the market, especially among the younger Gen Z to millennial demographic, how it approaches the issue of creator recognition matters.
Citing Engadget, Thursday, May 19, to access the feature, users can tap the new video icon on the post page after creating or editing their own video. Once on the video page, users can select videos they like, favourite, post, or have used the same voice.
Once this video is selected, the video tag will be added as a mention in the caption. Those whose videos are flagged by other creators' content will then be notified of this via an alert in their TikTok app's Inbox.
Please note, this feature emerged after many black creators in June last year left TikTok. They stopped sharing dance challenges and cited the lack of awards they received in an attempt to gain more recognition.
