Jokowi Removes The Use Of Masks Outdoors, PKB Legislator: The Government Protects Human Rights
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the DPR RI from the PKB faction, Luqman Hakim, appreciated the government's decision announced by President Joko Widodo regarding the revocation of the obligation to wear masks for people who do outdoor activities. so far. Luqman said, this success was also due to the active role of the community who generally complied with various COVID-19 control policies set by the government.
"Alhamdulillah. I fully support President Jokowi's policy of gradually 'normalizing' people's lives from the COVID-19 pandemic," said Luqman in his statement to VOI, Tuesday, May 17. The PKB politician said the gradual lifting of policies to limit community activities was in line with the increasingly controlled COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, this is proof that the government has careful planning, is not in a hurry and prioritizes the health and safety of the people.
"I hope the public will give full support to this gradual normalization policy. Believe me, the government does not want to maintain restrictions so that people will experience difficulties," he said. "The government is carrying out one of the goals of Islamic law, namely hifdz nafs or protecting the rights of human life," he concluded.
Jokowi said this decision was made by taking into account the increasingly controlled condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.
"The government has decided to relax the policy on wearing masks. If people are doing outdoor activities or in open areas that are not crowded with people, they are allowed not to wear masks," Jokowi said at a press conference at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Tuesday, May 17.
However, for activities in closed spaces and public transportation, the government still requires people to wear masks.
