Shot By KKB Papua, Asia One Cargo Plane Turns Around When It Wants To Land At Ilaga

PAPUA - The Asian One cargo plane that was fired upon by the Papuan armed criminal group (KKB) turned around when it wanted to land at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport, Puncak Regency, Papua.

Head of the Aminggaru Airport Management Unit (UPBU), Ilaga Herman Sujito, said the incident occurred on Friday morning at around 10:00 WIT.

"As a result, the plane returned to Timika without unloading the items it was carrying," Herman said when contacted from Jayapura, Friday, May 13. He explained that from the reports he received, the Asian One cargo plane was about to land. However, two shots were heard, so the pilot of the plane decided to turn back to Timika.

Just as they were about to turn, they heard gunshots again. But the shot did not hit the fuselage. "There was no loss of life or property in the incident," Herman said as quoted by Antara. Herman Sujito admitted that when the incident occurred there were three other cargo planes that flew behind the Asian One plane but eventually returned to Timika. the plane that landed at Aminggaru Ilaga Airport," he said.
