Turkish Citizen Who Was Stranded In Bali Waters Because He Fell From A Ship Bound For Vietnam To Be Deported

BULELENG - Turkish citizen Erhan Seckal who was stranded in the waters of Buleleng Bali was deported to his home country.

Head of the Class II Office of TPI Singaraja Nanang Mustofa said the foreigner had been deported to his home country via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, Tuesday, May 10.

"The foreigner was repatriated because he entered and was in Indonesian territory without having a valid travel document and residence permit," Nanang said in a written statement, Thursday, May 12.

This Turkish citizen was secured by the Inteldakim team from the Immigration Office Class II TPI Singaraja, Buleleng, on Thursday, May 5 after receiving treatment at the Kubuaddan Health Center I, Buleleng, Bali.

"After receiving a report from the waters department of Buleleng Regency. The foreigner was found stranded on a fish FAD belonging to a resident near the coast of Kubuaddan Village, Buleleng by a fisherman who was weak, dehydrated, and had irritation in almost his entire body," he said.

"After receiving medical treatment, the foreigner was then taken to the Immigration Class II TPI Singaraja office for questioning," said Nanang.

Erhan admitted that he was stranded due to falling from his ship on the afternoon of May 2, 2022, which departed from Australia for Vietnam.

At that time, he was on the bridge behind the ship, and suddenly lost consciousness and fell into the sea. Erhan floated in the middle of the sea and was stranded on one of the fish FADs belonging to the residents.

Meanwhile, based on the results of coordination with the Turkish Embassy in Jakarta, it was confirmed that Erhan was a Turkish citizen who had been declared missing by his ship's agent to the Turkish government.

The Turkish government through its embassy expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM) specifically the Immigration Office Class II TPI Singaraja who helped treat and facilitate the recovery of the health of its citizens and the process of their departure to return to Turkey.

"After fulfilling all administrative requirements, the foreigner is returned to his home country through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport accompanied by officers from his country's representatives. This action is taken as a form of immigration law enforcement in the work area of the Class II Immigration Office TPI Singaraja," said Nanang.
