Breaking News The Results Of The 2022 Isbat Session, The Government Sets Eid 1443 H To Fall On Monday, May 2

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) has set Eid 2022 or 1 Shawwal 1443 H to fall on Monday, May 2.

This determination is based on the decision of the isbat session led by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the HM Auditorium. Rasjidi, Ministry of Religion Office Jalan MH Thamrin No. 6, Jakarta, Sunday, May 1.

"Based on the Isbat Session, 1 Shawwal 1443 H falls on Monday, May 2, 2022. This is the result of the Isbat Session that we just held and we agreed together and of course we hope that with the results of this Isbat Session all Muslims in Indonesia can feel Eid together," explained Minister of Religion Yaqut at a press conference quoted on the Indonesian Ministry of Religion's Youtube, Monday night.

Before the trial began, the Ministry of Religion said it listened to the explanations of experts in Falag science and astronomy. These experts state that the height of the new moon in all parts of Indonesia is at a position of 4 degrees 0.59 minutes to 5 degrees 33.57 minutes. This is the new moon position based on suction.

In the Isbat Session, the Ministry of Religion uses two methods which have been an inseparable part of one another. Namely the method of suction and ruqyah or by directly seeing the presence of the new moon.

"For us to understand together that these two methods, both the reckoning method and the ruqyah method, are not two methods that are confronted or contradicted. Both of these methods complement each other because both are very important," explained the Minister of Religion.

Previously, monitoring of the new moon, or rukyatul hilal, was carried out in several locations in Indonesia. This year, the Ministry of Religion held rukyah at 99 points in Indonesia.

Rukyatul Hilal officers are Hisab Rukyat experts throughout the archipelago, whose reports are accompanied by statements under oath, so that their integrity and credibility are guaranteed.

The results of the observation of the new moon will then be reported in the Isbat Session for the Determination of the Beginning of Shawwal between the Minister of Religion together with Islamic organizations. "We invite Islamic organizations to attend the early isbat session of Syawal 1443 H which will be held on May 1, 2022," said the Director of Islamic Religious Affairs and Sharia Development (Urais and Binsyar) of the Ministry of Religion, Adib, in a statement to the media quoted on Sunday, May 1.

In addition, his party also invited Commission VIII of the DPR RI, academics from a number of universities, leaders of Islamic boarding schools, as well as astronomers and astronomers.

The implementation of the isbat session began with an explanation of the position of the new moon by the Ministry of Religion's Hijri Calendar Unification Team, followed by information on the results of the rukyatul hilal which was held at 99 points throughout Indonesia.

"Furthermore, the beginning of Shawwal 1443 H will be determined by considering the results of reckoning and rukyat results, as well as input from trial participants," concluded Adib.
