Chico Aura Dwi's Surprise In Asian Championship Preliminary Round: Defeating First Seed Kento Momota!

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, made a surprise in the early rounds of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships. He managed to get rid of the first seed from Japan, Kento Momota!

In the match that took place on Wednesday, April 27, Chico won through a three-game battle. He had to go through the fight for an hour and two minutes before winning a ticket to the next round.

Chico actually lost 17-21 in the first game. However, he bounced back in the next two games.

In the second game, the 23-year-old men's singles won 21-17. In the deciding game, the game is much more captivating. While Momota seemed to be sluggish.

In this decisive game, Chico won easily 21-7.

In the second round later, Chico Aura will face the representative of Hong Kong, Lee Cheuk Yiu. He qualified for the second round after defeating Jordan's Bahaedeen Ahmad Alshannik 18-21, 21-11, and 21-15.

In another match, Indonesian women's singles, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, also stepped into the next round. He managed to beat Han Yue of China in two straight games, 21-14 and 21-12.
