Vice President Ma'ruf Wants MSME Intellectual Property To Be Protected
JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin wants the intellectual property of businesses, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be protected in order to promote MSMEs while at the same time strengthening people's pride in local products.
This was conveyed by the Vice President at the Peak Ceremony of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 26.
"With more and more MSMEs in the creative economy sector whose intellectual property is recognized, both personal and communal, it is hoped that it will further strengthen people's pride in Indonesian-made products," said the vice president as quoted by Antara.
The Vice President conveyed that the success of the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement is not enough to do with echoing the slogan, but by actively participating in using local products, while respecting intellectual property. He said the government hopes that at least 20 percent of the around 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia can be protected. .
On this occasion, the Vice President also emphasized the understanding of the urgency of intellectual property protection to be one of the important aspects of empowering MSMEs, so that MSMEs are getting higher grades.
The Vice President reminded that the role of innovation and creativity in the MSME sector was very significant in the midst of efforts to recover the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.
