11 People Suspect Marijuana Party In Lumajang Bamboo Forest Tourism Area

LUMAJANG - The Lumajang Police have named 11 people as suspects out of 66 people arrested in a marijuana party case at the Bamboo Forest tourist area in Sumbermujur Village, Lumajang Regency, East Java.

"The results of the examination show that 11 people were found to be storing marijuana who are now named suspects, one of whom is a student," said Lumajang Police Chief AKBP Dewa Putu Eka, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 22.

Initially, the police received information from the public that in the tourist area of the Bamboo Forest about the activities of the Vespa club. The Narcotics Satresnal opsnal team moved to investigate because there was information about the marijuana party.

The Lumajang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) team then arrested 66 people who had a marijuana party in the Bamboo Forest tourist area when holding the Vespa II Club Anniversary event on Tuesday (19/4).

"Of the 66 people who were arrested, 31 people tested positive for consuming marijuana based on urine tests and 24 others drank alcohol," he said.

During the investigation, all of the suspects admitted to using marijuana. Cannabis is obtained from Banyuwangi and Malang

The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (1) sub-Article 111 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) and 127 paragraph (1) of Law no. 35 on Narcotics jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code carries a minimum penalty of 4 years and a maximum of 12 years in prison.
