Tunjungan Plaza Surabaya Remains Open After The Fire

SURABAYA - The Tunjungan Plaza shopping center in Surabaya City, East Java, remains open a day after a fire broke out at Tunjungan Plaza 5.

Workers have carried out their usual activities at the mall in the center of the City of Heroes. The visitors are also quite crowded.

"Tunjungan Plaza is open as usual, except for TP 5", said Marketing Director of Pakuwon Group, Sutandi Purnomosidi, as the manager of Tunjungan Plaza (TP) to reporters quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 14.

Sutandi explained that TP 5 was temporarily closed because the manager had to repair the parts of the building that were affected by the fire and the police had to process the fire scene.

"Regarding the results of the identification of the cause of the fire, we submit it to the authorities, in this case, the Surabaya Fire Department and the police", he said.

Part of the Tunjungan Plaza 5 building located on Embong Malang Street, Surabaya City, caught fire on Wednesday, April 13 at 17.35 WIB.

The fire occurred when the shopping center was crowded with visitors but did not cause any casualties.

On Thursday, residents returned to visit Tunjungan Plaza, including Benny Irawan.

"I happen to want to go home and have to buy something here. I heard the information that the TP is still open, that's why I stay here", said the resident of Sidoarjo.
