Election Observer Asks Newly Inaugurated Bawaslu To Immediately Form A Provincial Team
JAKARTA - The Voter Education Network for the People (JPPR) is pushing for the 2022-2027 Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) period, which was inaugurated by President Jokowi, Tuesday, April 12, to immediately form a selection team for Bawaslu members in 25 provinces whose term of office ends in the middle of this year.
"The newly inaugurated Bawaslu must immediately form a selection team for the recruitment of Bawaslu in 25 provinces whose term of office ends in the middle of this year," said JPPR National Coordinator Nurlia Dian Paramita.
JPPR, continued Nurlia, hopes that Bawaslu can create a higher quality recruitment mechanism and produce better organizers, including paying attention to the representation of at least 30 percent of women in the South East Timor and provincial Bawaslu.
In addition, JPPR asked the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2022-2027 period to stipulate a KPU Regulation (PKPU) regarding the Election Stages.
"The PKPU regarding the Election Stages needs to be determined immediately considering this is important in program preparation and readiness to face each stage in the 2024 General Election," said Nurlia.
The KPU for the 2022-2027 period was also asked to consult the PKPU on Verification of Political Parties to the Indonesian House of Representatives so that the regulation could be enacted immediately.

Nurlia said that the JPPR views that the PKPU on Political Party Verification needs to be established immediately because there is sufficient time for the KPU to socialize the regulation and for political parties participating in the election to fill out the Political Party Information System (Sipol).
Finally, Nurlia said that her party appealed to KPU and Bawaslu members for the 2022-2027 period to always maintain independence and professionalism as an independent institution based on the constitutional mandate and in accordance with the values of Pancasila.
Furthermore, JPPR congratulated all members of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period.
"JPPR congratulates the members of the KPU and Bawaslu for the 2022-2027 period," said Nurlia Dian Paramita.
