General Listyo Sigit Takes To The Street, Makes Sure His Staff Separates Students From 'Illicit Passengers'

JAKARTA - National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, visited the Central Jakarta Metro Police Security Post in a white tent, opposite the State Palace, Central Jakarta National Monument (Monas) area, Monday 11 April.

The arrival of the National Police Chief to ensure the security procedures carried out by his staff in the field.

"We, the police, are proving to be able to provide services to student demonstrations. We also uphold the freedom of expression as part of the freedom of democracy", General Listyo Sigit said in front of several media crews, Monday, April 11, afternoon.

Police officers continue to secure so that the demonstration process can run safely and peacefully in an orderly manner.

"The aspirations of fellow students can be conveyed. Because students who guard democracy always have a critical voice, we must always guard them. We must avoid it, of course, there should be no passengers or intruders who then interfere with the process of the activities that our fellow students want to do", he insisted.

The National Police Chief said that his staff would guard and separate students from stowaways who deliberately took advantage of the students' actions.

"Hopefully everything goes conducive and the National Police will definitely provide the best service so that the process of the student demos can run safely, smoothly, aspirations are conveyed and of course, government policymakers will listen", he said.

The National Police Chief also confirmed that several people were detained in the Horse Statue area and around the State Palace.

"Yes, there were some who were secured from several areas around West Java and so on. Some brought weapons, we secured them. Thank God we don't have firearms until now", he concluded.
