DPR Discusses Stages And Budget For The 2024 Election A Day Before Recess
JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR has scheduled a hearing (RDP) with the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Wednesday, April 13 to discuss the stages, programs and budget for the 2024 General Election before the DPR enters its recess on April 14.
"On the 13th, Wednesday, we will recess 14. So we will schedule Wednesday after the inauguration of (KPU-Bawaslu) tomorrow," said Deputy Chairman of Commission II DPR Junimart Girsang at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, April 11.
Junimart emphasized that his party wants democracy to run steadily. Therefore, preparations for the Simultaneous Election which will be held on February 14, 2024 must be finalized, especially regarding the budget.
"That's all we want. There's no need to hinder anything here, as long as the government has a budget, why not. We also don't force the government to provide a budget if they don't have a budget," he said.
Regarding the need for budget efficiency or not, Junimart said that his party is not the executor. That is, the one with the authority is the organizer, namely the KPU. "Those who know our situation only hear their percentages and analyze whether it's logical or not. If the budget is fine, we'll just knock, right. Of course, Banggar will go to Banggar later, Banggar will coordinate with the Minister of Finance, go ahead, we'll just knock," he explained.
For example, continued Junimart, the KPU has budgeted IDR 100 trillion, Commission II only knocks on approval but the decision goes back to Banggar and the Ministry of Finance. "If the finance ministry says there is no money, what will happen? So the KPU also budgets rationally so that it doesn't repeat itself as before, many have become victims of the organizers, some even died, we don't want that to happen again," said Junimart. "Well, what needs to be considered is to prevent medical equipment, I think that needs to be prepared. Like masks, all kinds of things must be available," he said.
