Eid Al-Fitr Joint Leave On April 29-May 6, 2022 Will Be Able To Give Regional Economic Awakening Effect

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat said that the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday has the potential to revive the regional economy. However, still prioritizing health protocols in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The announcement of a joint leave from the government opens up opportunities for the regional economy to quickly recover, but it must be accompanied by adequate vigilance," said Lestari Moerdijat in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, April 7.

She said the movement of the masses at almost the same time during the Eid al-Fitr holiday would have a huge economic impact on the region.

According to her, this condition must also be anticipated by a number of parties such as stakeholders at the central and regional levels.

"Regional readiness to welcome homecomers to encourage the economy to move faster must be done immediately," she said, as reported by Antara.

In addition, according to him, the preparation of facilities and infrastructure to support the homecoming flow, such as road readiness, fuel supply, and security forces must be ensured to be able to support the smooth flow of homecoming.

She said that due to inadequate preparation, going home, which was expected to have an effect on regional economic revival, turned into a disaster.

Therefore, she considered, the support of all levels of society is needed to ensure the safety and smooth flow of Eid homecoming this year.

Previously, the government had set a national holiday for Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri on May 2 and 3, 2022, and also set a joint leave for Eid al-Fitr, namely April 29, 4, 5, and May 6, 2022.

Based on the Balitbang survey of the Ministry of Transportation in March 2022, as many as 74.9 million people plan to go home on Eid this year.
