Starring Chicco Jerikho, Doctor Foster's Serial Adapted In Indonesia So Two

JAKARTA - The Doctor Foster series will be adapted by Disney+ Hotstar, BBC Studios, and Screenplay Films with the title Mendua. The adaptation series will be produced by Screenplay Films for Disney+ Hotstar with Pritagita Arianegara as director.

Mendua will feature stars such as Adinia Wirasti as dr. Sekar M. Atmajaya; Chicco Jericho as her husband, Ivan; and Tatjana Saphira as Bella.

"We see the potential of the creative community in Indonesia to adapt this award-winning series and will continue our commitment to bringing quality stories to Indonesian audiences," said Head of Content & Creative The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia Ahmad Izham Omar in a release received by VOI, Wednesday, April 6.

Indonesia became one of the countries that helped adapt Doctor Foster. This BAFTA award-winning series is written and created by Mike Bartlett, and produced by Drama Republic for BBC One. Doctor Foster" follows the story of a successful doctor whose life is ruined after learning of her husband's infidelity.

The adaptation version, Mendua, is packaged in a serial format of 8 45-minute episodes and will air exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar this year.

Apart from Indonesia, the production of the Doctor Foster series adaptation is also underway in Thailand. In the Philippines, the adaptation of Doctor Foster is already running with its 50th episode. In South Korea, this series is known as The World of the Married which became the highest-rated series in the history of cable TV in South Korea.

BBC Studios SVP Global Format Sales André Renaud believes that Mike Bartlett and Drama Republic have created an extraordinary story and character through Doctor Foster to inspire customers and find new ways to tell this story for local audiences.

"Screenplay Films' interpretation of the series will introduce new characters and approaches to the story, but still take on the same themes that are central to the series. I'm sure this series will appeal to Disney+ Hotstar audiences," said Mike.
