Call The Price Of Pertamax IDR 12,500 Reasonable, Erick Thohir: It Should Be IDR 16,000 Per Liter
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said that the price of Pertamax fuel oil (BBM) should increase to IDR 16,000 per liter if it follows the current economic price. The price refers to the soaring world crude oil price.
However, said Erick, the government chose to raise it below the economic price of IDR 12,500. According to Erick, this is proof that the government is present in meeting the people's need for fuel.
"What should the price of Pertamax be? IDR 16,000, the price of fuel has gone up, but what is the government's price? IDR 12,500 per liter. What does that mean? The government is here," he told reporters, quoted on Monday, April 4.
Furthermore, Erick said that the increase in Pertamax's price of IDR 12,500 per liter was a natural thing. This is because the price set by the government is still far below the economic price.

"When it comes to Pertamax, we touch the hearts of the rich, the wealthy, let's participate, how can we help those who have to exchange subsidies," he said.
