Twitter Tries Collaborative Feature, Two Accounts Can Write Posts Together

JAKARTA - Twitter has confirmed it's new feature "explore" that allows two accounts to co-author in a single tweet. As reported by TechCrunch app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi has been posting evidence of the development of the feature since at least last December.

But recently he came across what appears to be an official dialogue box from Twitter about how this tweet collaboration can work.

The co-author feature won't be a problem for Twitter, considering that its competitor, Instagram, has been offering something similar since 2021. There are many reasons why two accounts might want their names attached to a single post, ranging from brand partnerships, influencer campaigns, or even just share credits for funny posts.

According to the screenshot posted by Paluzzi, you can only invite public accounts that follow you to co-author the tweet, and they must accept your invitation.

Hopefully there's a mechanism to stop this popular account from being repeatedly asked to co-author spammy tweets.

Once published, the collaborative tweet is shared with followers from both accounts, and both avatars will be displayed at the top left of the post.

There's no word on when Twitter will launch the collaborative tweet, or if it will make it out of the development stage. But considering that at least one of Twitter's competitors already offers such a feature, it looks like Twitter wants to follow suit.
