South Jakarta Police And Metro Jaya Police Ensure That The Type Of Weapon Used By The Perpetrators Of Shooting The Train Is An Air Rifle
JAKARTA - Police are investigating the shooting of the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung KRL that was shot by an unknown person while crossing Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
South Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Harun said there were three witnesses being examined in the case. This is done to find out what actually happened in the case.
"As for the train, it is still under investigation. We are also cooperating with the Regional Police. We will carry out a joint investigation. While there are still three witnesses, we are asking for information from the train escort," Harun told reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Thursday, March 31. .
Harun also confirmed that the shot was not from a firearm, but from an air rifle. He suspected that when the shooting occurred, the train was not traveling so fast.
"It was from an air rifle. Yesterday the regional police also conveyed this from an air rifle. So it is possible that the condition of the train is not fast enough," he explained.
Regarding the evidence, such as broken glass and projectiles found by officers, they have now been brought to the puslabfor Polri Headquarters.
"The bullet projectiles as well as the broken glass are still being handled. We have stored them yesterday and checked too," he said.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Anne Purba admitted that the vandalism that damaged the windows of the 2138 electric rail train (KRL) for the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung connection, crossing Palmerah Station-Kebayoran Station, came from air rifle fire.
This is based on reports from officers who found projectiles inside KRL 2138.
"Based on the results of the search and inspection at the scene by officers, projectiles were found inside KRL 2138 around the window glass that was hit by the shot from the air rifle," said Anne in a written statement, Thursday, March 31.
For this incident, Anne confirmed that her party had cooperated with the police to reveal the vandalism case. According to him, the incident was an act that violated the Criminal Code Chapter VII Article 194 paragraph 1 regarding Crimes that Endanger Public Security for People or Property with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison.
In addition, this action can also be charged with Article 180 of Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways. For carrying out vandalism activities.
Perpetrators of vandalism are threatened with imprisonment from 3 to 15 years in prison and/or a maximum fine of Rp. 2 billion.
