National Film Day, Mira Lesmana To Ernest Prakasa Appreciate The Presence Of OTT In Film

JAKARTA - National Film Day is celebrated every March 30. Year after year, Indonesian films increasingly dominate local and international cinema.

This change was also appreciated by local filmmakers. Mira Lesmana, who is the producer of Miles Films, feels that the public should be proud of the many quality films.

"All of us in the Indonesian film industry are trying to make the best works that are meaningful and have better quality," said Mira Lesmana on the Netflix YouTube channel.

In 2021, Mira Lesmana will strengthen the industry by presenting the film Paranoia, a new genre that she has never done before. Just like Shanty Harmayn, producer of the film Akhirat: Love Story who is treading a new story.

“The demand for watching is now different. Indonesian audiences don't just watch local films, but are spoiled with so much variety. Therefore, the Indonesian film industry must explore new genres," said Shanty Harmayn.

The ongoing pandemic also helps build collaboration between many parties. The presence of the OTT platform also helps the development of Indonesian films that continue to be known internationally. One of them was Light Copy which was released and topped the global Netflix rankings.

"When times are tough, filmmakers can be helped because we have a platform to keep working on," added Muhammad Zaidy, producer of Palari Films.

“Netflix has a clear vision and respects filmmakers. His presence is a place for us to experiment, be creative, have ideals, and this will definitely have a positive impact on the Indonesian film industry," concluded Ernest.
