Sandiaga Uno's Warning: The Effects Of Economic Recession Are Already Felt
JAKARTA - Founder of OK OCE Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, revealed that the effects of the economic recession that will hit Indonesia have begun to be felt at the end of the third quarter of this year. One of them is the loss of jobs.
He could see the effects of this recession directly in the field, Sandi said. Because, he admitted, a lot of people went downstairs to communicate with OK OCE partners in this COVID-19 pandemic situation.
"The economic burden is getting more difficult. Incidentally I have come down a lot with the MSME movement OK OCE, Ready to Work Homes and we already feel the recession we are starting to feel in terms of job losses," he said, at the signing of the memorandum of understanding 'One Thousand Technopreneurs, One Million Jobs'. online, Monday, September 28.
For your information, in the second quarter of this year the national economy contracted considerably, namely minus 5.32 percent. The government through the Ministry of Finance predicts that the second quarter of Indonesia's economy will be minus 2.9 percent to minus 1.0 percent.
This means that if the government predicts that economic growth is still in the negative zone, an economic recession will occur. This is because in economics, a country can be said to be experiencing a recession if its economy is negative for two consecutive quarters. The determinant whether Indonesia will enter or not be in the brink of recession is in the third quarter of this year.
According to Sandi, the bad effects of the economic recession were beginning to be felt in a number of economic sectors. Both the main sectors to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"Our brothers and sisters have lost their livelihoods, especially in several main sectors and MSMEs," he said.
Sandi said the COVID-19 pandemic had changed the system of people's lives as a whole. Starting from consumption patterns, work patterns to needs patterns. Therefore, he hopes, innovation can be a solution in rebuilding Indonesia's economy which was depressed due to the pandemic.
"This is our opportunity to innovate and build a more conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem," he said.
