Bangka Was Hit By A Hurricane, Hundreds Of Houses Were Damaged
CENTRAL BANGKA - Strong winds that hit a number of areas in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands caused damage. Hundreds of houses in the village of Ketipe, Central Bangka Regency were destroyed due to the extreme weather.
Central Bangka Regent Algafry Rahman revealed, temporary data recorded as many as 112 houses were seriously and lightly damaged.
"The houses that were damaged occurred in two hamlets in the village of Kepola, Pangkalanbaru sub-district," he said when he visited the location of the incident, Tuesday, March 29.
One person was reportedly seriously injured in the incident and four houses were completely razed to the ground.
"We have just received temporary data, currently officers are working both to collect data on affected houses and to set up emergency tents to evacuate victims in this incident," said the regent, as reported by Antara.
Meanwhile, Rita, a resident whose house was also affected by strong winds, admitted that the incident happened very quickly.
"It happened at around 14.30 WIB, it was drizzling rain and before that incident I saw the wind spinning very fast towards the sea," he said.
Rita admitted that her house was hit by the wind and damaged the roof, but before the incident she and other family members had escaped from the house.
"It happened very quickly, there was a rumbling sound and then it hit the roof of my house," he concluded.
