Miracle! After 20 Broken Bones And Almost Crippled, The 2019 Tour De France Champion Is Now Starting To Move Again
JAKARTA - Good news came from a cyclist from Colombia, Egan Bernal. The 2019 Tour de France champion is now able to cycle again after being almost declared paralyzed.
Bernal had a fatal accident in January. At that time he crashed into a bus in Colombia and was immediately taken to the hospital.
As a result, he suffered 20 fractures, including the spine and right thigh. Bernal also suffered trauma to the chest and injuries to the lungs.
Bernal also had to undergo a number of operations.
The 25-year-old said the fatal accident had the potential to leave him paralyzed. The odds are up to 95 percent!
However, a miracle happened. He posted a photo of him riding his bicycle down the street after leaving the hospital in February.
He described it as the "happiest day" of his life.
"After two months of treatment and 20 fractures, here I am and I still want more. See you on the road, friends," said the 2021 Giro d'Italia champion.
Bernal is the youngest driver to win the tour in more than a century. He also recently extended his contract with the Ineos Grenadiers team until 2026.
